Walking In The Light

THE LAMP DEVOTION
Ephesians 5:8-14
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”
We all know that God is light and in Him is no darkness. We also know that the light shines in darkness, and darkness cannot stand where there is light. As light approaches, darkness goes away. Jesus said to His disciples “I am the Light of the world”, then He turned to them and said to them, “you are the light of the world”
What does the light do? Light does nothing but shine. Practically what this means is that as we simply are what God has made us, people become conscious of our presence. When you got born again, everyone in your world knew something had happened to you. They call you “Osofo”, meaning “Pastor”. If people are engaging in something filthy, your presence becomes a threat to them. They feel uncomfortable doing dirty things in your presence.
That is what letting our light shine means, not like the case of Lot whose life was almost blending with the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah, that it had to take grace and favor from Abraham for his family to be saved from God’s anger.
We cannot blend with the world. We must dispel darkness by our conduct and our speech.
Prayer
Thank God for the privilege of being a light wherever you are.
Pray that your light will always shine wherever you find yourself, drawing people to God.
Father, please help me not to compromise with the standards of this fallen world.
Declarations
I declare that I am light in the world. Jesus Christ my Lord gives me light to shine. I shall shine to my world. Darkness will flee anywhere I am. My life shall continue to be a challenge to sinners. They shall forever feel uncomfortable with sin in my presence. I declare that through my light I win many to the kingdom in the name of Jesus.
